Vietnamese stocks gained on Tuesday on record low liquidity as many investors were hesitant to jump on board although there was an increase in stock valuations.

Shares opened the new trading week on a negative note as blue chips plummeted across the two national stock exchanges.

The market extended the bearish trend last week, expecting many domestic and foreign retail and institutional investors to restructure their portfolios to close the year and prepare for the next fiscal year. This will have a certain influence on market volatility in the last trading sessions of 2022, according to experts.

The number of fresh players on the stock exchange in 2022 continued to fall back, with only just over 50 new stocks added to the list of nearly 1,700 on the Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi stock exchanges and UPCoM.

 With the Government increasing public investment and speeding up the disbursement progress, many businesses on the stock market will benefit.

Many investment funds recorded large losses in 2022, but they are restructuring their portfolios, expecting long-term opportunities.

The stock market rebounded on Thursday, ending the recent losing streak of four consecutive days on improved risk appetite.

Oil businesses with strong financial health benefitting from the current high oil prices will be the appropriate choices for investors’ portfolios in the current volatile market context.

Benchmark indices extended losses on Wednesday, but the downtrend was curbed by gains in large-cap stocks. Foreign inflows continued to provide some support to the market.

Strong buys by foreign traders failed to rescue the VN-Index from another fall on Tuesday, with the benchmark giving up 1.47 per cent to close at 1,023.13 points.
